ABOUT ME

I'm Stranger Chriss. A modern DJ, with vinyl records.

Secretparty Strangerchriss Ódor Krisztián dj

If you ask me, I don't think it's worth reading what a DJ thinks he is, because if you've come this far, you've either heard of him or met him somewhere, so I won't do that now. But if you're still a little curious, here's my story in a few sentences:

I was in the upper grades of elementary school in the early 2000s. It was the heyday of recorded CDs. An “audio mecca” that I also took part in. I gave and bought them, I rotated them, I always had some kind of music with me. On the way to school and home I had the Walkman that my uncle gave me, on which I played the music I had transferred from CDs to cassettes. He had a huge CD collection, from which I put something into the HIFI every day after school, let him play! At school I was the guy who organized the class parties and who always had an idea of what the next song should be. And it usually worked. My nickname was Igor, so my classmates gave me the name “DJ Igor”. Encouraged by this, I even had a business card made for myself with my pocket money, which I enthusiastically distributed… when I was in seventh grade, I have no idea who or what 😀

I didn't end up becoming a DJ after that. Not then. In my teenage years, I mainly focused on learning instruments, live music and orchestrating. I performed at most Hungarian festivals, sometimes just once, sometimes every year. With my smaller and larger formations, we had hundreds of concerts all over the country, from the smallest, most hidden pubs to the largest stages. In high school, vocal music was my chosen graduation subject. In the end, I got a three. According to my vocal teacher, this is why: "It's obvious that Krisztián absorbed music even with his mother's milk, the problem may have been that he switched to beer too early" - of course, he meant this as a joke, but at the time there might have been some truth in it.

During this time, of course, I kept my “house party king crown”, and I even jokingly called myself a certified YouTube DJ, back when YouTube was available for that kind of thing… for free. The years passed like this, until in 2018 we moved into a house where I had a lot of vinyl records left to me by the previous owner. Then they started to speak to me, I soon repaired the turntable that belonged to them and I found myself spinning the records. I listened to them and they sounded like no other music before, and then I felt that yes, this is what I was looking for, this is what I want to do. I used the soon-to-come, mandatory stay-at-home times to browse turntables on the internet, that’s when I got my first pair of Technics 1210 mk2 turntables and started taking on gigs with them. Only from records and only what is dear to my heart. No compromises, no computer, USB or CD. Just for the fun of it, just for the love of music and the audience. Technically I wasn't a good DJ yet, but I loved doing it and others loved listening to it. (I got a lot of good advice and useful guidance from older colleagues, which I wouldn't have done without and for which I would like to thank you.) I practiced and prepared.

Then it started and took me with it, they called me and I went. I played what came from my heart. They called me more and more, and as the number of requests increased, I expanded my repertoire and technical background. Weddings, birthdays, company parties, big city New Year's Eves, even in places I never thought I would be able to go to. My real plans and desires only really took shape in me during this time. I've been working on these ever since.

Now I stand before you virtually, offering myself. For what? For a conversation in which we can find out how we can dream up and execute the party of your life together.

"Music will fly you exactly where you want to be, you just have to choose a good pilot!"
